Diseases don't so much affect the immune system as they are a symptom of an already compromised immune system. For example, everyone's body has tiny cancers in it, but a healthy immune system resists them. People only "get" cancer when the immune system has been compromised and is no longer protecting them from the cancers that are always present.
The condition that does affect the immune system is stress. Dr. Candace Pert demonstrated scientifically in her book, Molecules Of Emotion, that stress compromises the immune system, leaving us open to diseases that we could have otherwise warded off.
What causes stress? Doing something we don't want to do, like staying in an unhappy relationship or job. In his book, Radical Healing, Ralph Ballantine interviewed the head of a prestigious cancer institute, who told him that virtually everyone who came in with a diagnosis of a terminal disease was stuck in some life situation that they didn't know how to get out of. Those who took the diagnosis as a wake up call and made life changes would be cured or go into remission. Those who remained stuck in their stressful unhappiness would die.
Also, stopping ourselves from doing something we do want to do can cause stress. Being true to ourselves is the way to keep stress at a minimum and keep our immune systems strong and healthy.

Not at all. In large amounts vitamin C could cause kidney stones and it is also a diuretic.
500 mg a day is a useful amount to take. The Vitamin C Foundation actually recommends 3 gm a day but most health authorities recommend a lot less.

the side effects of taking in too much vitamin c would be losing calcium in your body which would somehow give you back problems and sometimes crepitous (sound made by bones everytime you do sudden movement) and you would notice that your bones starts to ache (some parts). 500mg would be enough for each day and you can raise the dosage if you're having an inflammation of the mucous membrane.

Whether your body passes it out or not, why take more of anything than you need? Its a waste of money and one is taking a chance that some of it might not be passed if the body malfunctions. Take only what the body needs, as you get that "extra" from natural sources.
